Urban Hijau is an organic sustainable farming located in a city. People are expected to learn the knowledge of growing up plants, increase awareness on healthy eating and most vitally enhance the knowledge of recycling in farming process.
On 24 Nov 2018, I was grateful to have the opportunity to visit the Urban Hijau with my fellow friends. Since the farm applies permaculture model, I think it is worth for me to share the knowledge on how permaculture works and its relationship with recycling.

# Where food wastes can go?
A new life journey for food waste is to make as fertiliser — not to the landfill. Although some people may think it is troublesome to specially separate the trash into food waste and solid waste, it is still encouragable to make the earth green.

So, the making of fertiliser from food waste also a way to promote recycling. The food that will be disposed off can play another role. This is how the permaculture model works in a farm.
- The food waste is gathered to Urban Hijau.
- Then, the food waste is made into fertiliser and used to grow the plants.
- When the plants grow up, they can be sold to consumers.
As mentioned above, the food waste is actually undergoing a circulation. Through this way, materials like fruits and vegetable scraps, eggshells and feather will not be waste anymore.
That’s all for this post, thank you for reading. Please do check up for more info relates to Food Waste at Malaysia in my previous post.
