People care for the environmental and health issues nowadays. Except for plastic waste, what popular rubbish is being discussed by public? The answer is Polystyrene Dining Box.
While plastic takes 10-1000 years to decompose, POLYSTYRENE is actually so hard to biodegrade. If you throw a polystyrene box in the landfill now, after 500 years, it will still be there!
Well, as you know, many people like to “da-bao” (take away) food. In Xiamen University Malaysiaย (XMUM), students will use it to take away their food especially from the mix rice stall. For one person to use a polystyrene dining box, if he/she does this for the three main meals in a day, there will be accumulation of three polystyrene dining boxes. Imagine everyone do the same thing …… the world will be?

A big ‘No-No’ in daily life is POLYSTYRENE DINING BOX.
According to The Star online, the government has encouraged businesses to reduce the usage of polystyrene box since 2016. The result is some business corporates or food traders do participate in the action and support the policy. However, people may worry about the changes of price after the traders adopt oil papers or transparent plastic containers to replace the un-ecofriendly dining box.
Due to the reason, consumers are encouraged to bring their own take away container such as transparent plastic containers, Tupperware and metal containers. These are all the reusable dining containers. Although you need to pay those containers more than the price ofย a polystyrene box. But you only pay for once and they can be used for a long period before they break.

Due to some reasons like laziness and inconvenience, many people aren’t willing to use their own utensils. Hence, no matter how much effort the government put on banning the use of plastic or polystyrene, the end will always be the same. Ultimately, if we want to do good for our environment, it is left to the individuals to educate human with low civilisation and apply on themselves the 3Rs of saving our country and planet.

Yes, indeed. That’s why we ourself must do before others do. If you wait for others to start first, then we might never start and there will be no improvement. Although we dont know the direction we chose to move is correct or not, at least we try the best one.

Nice post! It would be better if you can show us more consequences of how a person’s action may have a big impact, which can be more convincing for people to make a change๏ผ

Ya, because it’s the same consequence like plastic waste — going to the landfill. While plastic takes 10-1000 years to decompose, polystyrene is actually so hard to biodegrade. If you throw a polystyrene box in the landfill now, after 500 years, it will still be there. Thank you for your comment.
